Traffic Jams
It’s a beautiful day out. The sun is waving at you and you have finished all of your work for the day. You can’t wait to get to your next destination and enjoy yourself.
All of a sudden…BAM, a traffic jam. 😡 You check your phone’s map app that shows there was an accident up ahead. There are no other roads to take and so you must wait it out.
What do you do?
You may curse. You might even slam on your horn, but the question remains. Why is this happening?
At one time or another, you may have asked this as well as, “Why me? How am I always attracting these types of situations?”
But tell me this…
…Have you ever cared to listen to the answer?
The answer is the most important thing to you at this point. Always listen for it.
If you were to listen, it may go something like this.
ANSWERER
Nothing is happening to you.
YOU
Yeah right.
ANSWERER
It’s happening “for” you.
YOU
How Answerer…how?
ANSWERER
What have you said you’ve always wanted?
YOU
What, peace? Simplicity? Ease?
ANSWERER
Yes, all of those.
YOU
How does that get me any of this?
ANSWERER
It’s easy to have peace when situations appear peaceful. But the truly peaceful demonstrate peace even when situations appear war-like.
YOU
That’s clever, but I’m not ready for all of that yet.
ANSWERER
You are and so it happens.
YOU
You mean to tell me that if I pass this test and be peaceful, then I won’t experience anymore traffic jams?
ANSWERER
I’m saying that if you are peaceful, you won’t care if there’s a traffic jam or not.
And so you decide to try it.
The next day you are excited to welcome the traffic jam.
Sadly, no traffic jam comes.
YOU
The one time I wanted a traffic jam, there wasn’t one. I was ready to practice. What gives?
ANSWERER
You stated you didn’t want to be stuck in traffic.
YOU
Yeah, but…
ANSWERER
First you were angry because there was traffic, then you were upset because there wasn’t. What changed?
YOU
My mindset.
ANSWERER
Ah haaaa.
And so, you live happily ever after…that is,
until you encounter a problem person. 😱
