IAMNOBODY, IAMSOMEONE is the greatest hip-hop album ever made.
Rating:

I know what you’re thinking…did JClay really just review his own album? Yes, of course!

This is years in the making. IAMNOBODY, IAMSOMEONE is a truth-led masterpiece daring to do what no album has ever before. In fact, it’s doing what many industry professionals are not.

That is showing you exactly how to heal for good.

This means you’ll never another pill, another treatment, more medicine, comfortable living quarters, anything.

IAMNOBODY, IAMSOMEONE shows you how to be enough!

What You Need To Know

Genres: Hip-Hop, R&B, Spiritual, Conscious, Christian

The standard edition is a 17-track step-by-step guide to having inner peace no matter the outside circumstances.

This is meant to be listened to in order. This can be tricky for Spotify users so I suggest either listening on YouTube or ordering the physical CD (includes digital copy).

Here’s where you can begin streaming it now: https://jclay.link/album.

Since IAMNOBODY, IAMSOMEONE is a collector’s item, there is also a limited edition version (double-disc, with 8 bonus songs). There are only 1,000 of these printed. Each one is numbered and signed by JClay.

And it’s gold-colored!

The 8 bonus songs on the limited edition further adapt the lessons taught on the album, but they don’t have to be listened to in any particular order for best results.

Let’s break down the music.

Lyrics by JClay
Beat by JCaspersen
Mixed/Mastered by JClay at JClay Studios

Purpose
“I And You” is meant to explain your true relationship with everyone and everything. It’s made in such a way that it sounds like a happy dream and not reality, because it would not be easily accepted as reality at this time, even though it is. So it’s mainly a gentle reminder of what we are to each other.

Who is this song for?
This song is for everyone. Everyone feels a certain way about another, but the truth goes beyond that. To state it plainly, we are one another. We are one and the same. You and I are each other.

Disc 1 – 6. I Like You That Way

Purpose
The purpose of “I Like You That Way” is to remind you of your perfection. Yes, it seems like I’m only talking to women. But since most guys agree with the sentiment of the song, as they apply it to women, they thus apply it to themselves.

Who is this song for?
On the surface, this song is for any woman that has ever doubted herself. In truth, this song is for anyone that has ever doubted him or herself, and for anyone that wants to help anyone that has ever doubted him or herself.

Purpose
The purpose of “Lake Erie” is to be a celebration. It’s not so much teaching but accepting. “Lake Erie” uses the traditional ego rap but flips it to benefit not only the ones reciting it but those being recited to.

Who is this song for?
This song is for anyone that wants to feel great for no reason.

Purpose
The purpose of “Time” is to show how time doesn’t matter at all. It’s an illusion. Actually, you can replace the word “time” with any other illusions people unknowingly follow in the second verse and the song would still be perfectly true.

Who is this song for?
“Time” is for people that think that either it’s too late to start something new or that there isn’t enough time to do what you would like. As Dwight from The Office would say, “False!”

There's no doubt that the mind controls the body. We often look to physical aids to cure physical problems. But this does very little if the cause of the problem is never addressed. This article shows the scientific links between the leading causes of death and their mental counterparts. It also reiterates how important mental health is.

This article was written by JClay, the spiritual rapper and healer. Visit JClay for more wisdom, music, and insights.

The body seems like a fickle master always changing what it wants and needs. You serve it proudly, but it betrays you when you need it most.

To add insult to injury, the body blames you for not adhering to its ever-changing laws and creeds. Then it withers away and dies as if that was always its purpose.

This sounds like an insane master.

What if the body was never meant to be a leader but a symbol of what its host’s mind embodies?

In the 17th century, Thomas Willis, M.D. hypothesized that diabetes was caused by “sadness or long sorrow and other depressions.“[1]

This was followed up a couple of hundred years later by Sir Henry Maudsley that published “The Physiology and Pathology of Mind“. In it, he said, “Diabetes is a disease which often shows itself in families in which insanity prevails.”

If a physical disease such as diabetes has strong ties to mental stability, do other illnesses share this trait? Is healing the body as simple as healing the mind?

Let’s explore!

The supposed leading causes of death

According to the CDC, here are the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States in 2019.

Intentional self-harm (suicide)

Many expect COVID-19 to be added to that list when the 2020 numbers are released.

Both Alzheimer’s (6) and intentional self-harm (10) are already regarded as mental illnesses, but what about the rest?

Could all of these be cured with a wellness mindset?

A Sad Heart

Have you ever thought about why being depressed is often referred to as having a sad heart?

Yes, you have a physical heart. Yet, this saying refers to thoughts and feelings of sorrow, not that of physical chest pain.

One study conducted by John Hopkins University on nearly 7,000 U.S. adults concluded that women aged 17 to 39 with depression had a significantly higher risk of ischemic heart disease death.

ischemia – an inadequate blood supply to an organ or part of the body, especially the heart muscles

These findings are backed by another study conducted by the American Heart Association that found that young women are twice as likely to suffer a heart attack or die of heart disease if they suffer from depression.

Men are not exempt.

The European Society of Cardiology recently published the findings of a Swedish study outlining how men diagnosed with anxiety in their late teens or early 20s are more than twice as likely to have heart-related diseases later in life in comparison to their more laid-back peers.

There’s more to mental wellness than meets the eye.

Cancer

Funds available to the National Cancer Institute in 2018 totaled $5.94 billion![2] This is a 5% increase from the previous fiscal year.

Obviously, people are serious about curing cancer.

From these dollars have come such studies as this one, which showed that cancer patients can live longer lives by getting mental health treatment.

There is also a growing belief that cancer is directly related to feelings of unforgiveness.

Dr. Michael Barry, author of the book The Forgiveness Project estimates that 61% of cancer patients have forgiveness issues. “Harboring these negative emotions, this anger and hatred, creates a state of chronic anxiety” Dr. Barry explains.

You may also like: It’s Not Hard To Forgive, It’s Hard To Keep Lying To Yourself About It

The Mind-Body Connection

There have been similar findings with stroke victims and Alzheimer’s patients.

One study by the American Stroke Association found that higher levels of optimism in stroke survivors were associated with reduced stroke severity.

Another by the Alzheimers’s Association found a link between repetitive negative thinking and Alzheimer’s disease.

The mind-body connection is one that has been explored since the beginning of mankind.

Many believe that we are spiritual beings having a temporary human experience, so the body is of no consequence.

Even those that have died and been resuscitated support this theory by expressing that they felt immense peace and unconditional love while wrapped in an endless sea of light absent a body.

So can all illness be healed through the mind?

Is mental wellness the most important thing for this seemingly physical experience?

How To Ensure Mental Well-Being

Photo by Josue & Kerry of Friday Feels Production

There are many ways to secure and maintain mental wellness.

One super effective way is music. It’s meditation, visualization, and affirmations all rolled into one.

Studies have shown that patients who listened to music had less anxiety and stress hormones in the body than people who took drugs.

When listening to music, your mind goes to another place (meditation). You can feel and imagine what the song invokes (visualization). When you listen, you sing or chant along (affirmations) with full confidence.

This is why it is also important to choose the music you listen to wisely.

I’ve created an album, IAMNOBODY, IAMSOMEONE, that is a thorough guide to having inner peace. By listening, you can reverse the effects of anxiety & depression without therapy or medicine.

This article was written by JClay, the spiritual rapper and healer. Visit JClay for more wisdom, music, and insights.

So you spent all of this time trying to use the law of attraction and you keep getting mixed results.

It’s all right. Once you make these tiny changes, manifestation in your image is inevitable.

The purpose of this article is to show you how you can better attract the life that you want.

By attract, I mean just that. You don’t have to go out and make things happen. Instead, you can sit back and let it all come to you.

It’s fair that you might not even want it. No matter what you want, you can have it and you can have it now.

So let’s do this!

What Is the Law of Attraction?

The law of attraction states that you are the cause of everything that happens in your life. You attract all things by use of your focus.

In other words, by changing your focus or unifying it, you can manifest and experience any reality right now.

Your mind acts as a receiving station that attracts the physical counterpart of your dominating thoughts.

So everything in your life (the place you stay, your clothes, your relationships, your phone, your “problems”, your dislikes) are all things you’ve wanted and/or may even feel you deserve.

Just as your dominating thoughts change, so does your reality.

Not only are you a figure in your own dream, but you are also the dreamer of the dream.

It’s all in your control.

Let’s learn how “dream” properly while sidestepping the common mistakes.

1. Focusing on materials items

It’s no way around it. Nice things are nice things.

You can’t always explain why you like something; you just know that you do.

Those things seem to make you happy. They can include a pretty face, a number in your bank account, a fresh pair of shoes, and/or a new JClay album. *hint hint*

The possibilities are endless.

Although possibilities are endless, material things have an end.

Herein lies the first contradiction.

You want more of what is finite choosing that over what is infinite.

By doing so you bring this into every aspect of your life. As the saying goes, you want what you can’t have.

You’ve set yourself an impossible mission being a slave of sorts to what will always fade.

Law of Attraction: Corrective Action #1

A better way is to focus instead on what is infinite and abundant. For instance, your being.

You are a human being and in this moment, you can be whatever you choose.

If you want to be happy, you can be happy. If you want to be angry, you can be that instead. It all depends on your choice.

By choosing something finite and outside of yourself to affect your being, you are going against the nature of what you are.

Besides, you only want material things because you believe it will make you happy. But if you get them, your happiness only remains as long as the item is interesting to you, which could be as little as an hour.

By choosing to be happy first and keeping your focus on that, you will attract all the material things naturally that will always add to your happiness. So when, for example, a favorite piece of clothing gets worn out, you’ll have an abundance of other favorite pieces of clothing.

2. Living in time

Both the past and the future seem to hold the key to everything you want.

The past shows ideas of “better” days that you would like to re-live today. The future shows ideas of “better” days that you would like to live someday.

In both cases, neither of these will ever come. Everything that has happened to you happened right now.

You’ve never been able to visit the past or the future. Yet in your mind, you visit there constantly.

By focusing on what isn’t here or never will be here, you are attracting more emptiness right now.

What is not here does not exist. To focus on the lack of something is to attract more lack into your life.

Whatever you focus on, you experience. And you experience whatever you focus on.

So how can you really ever be without what you focus on?

You can’t. You’ve again set yourself on an impossible task by wanting more of what can never be.

Law of Attraction: Corrective Action #2

Instead of focusing on lack, place your focus and attention on what exists right now.

There are many opportunities and chances for you to get exactly what you really want right here and right now. You simply cannot see them because you are looking away.

Ground yourself in this moment. Be present. Use meditation or music to help.

When you focus on what is, you will see everything that you’ve ever attracted waiting for you.

3. Believing in positive and negative

One of the big things with the law of attraction is that if you focus on positive thoughts, you will attract positive things.

But what exactly is a positive thought?

A positive thought is said to be a thought that focuses only on what is good.

The problem with that is that to define something as positive or good, you give birth to its opposite, negative and bad.

Else there would be no need to even define or judge the thing. By judging it as good, you are declaring that there is bad in this world so your judgment of what is good is needed.

It’s like asking someone if they know who you are? If you have to ask, they obviously don’t know.

Similarly, if you have to declare something as good, you obviously don’t believe it wholly yet. If you did, there would be no need to mention it, except only when asked.

Law of Attraction: Corrective Action #3

Instead of giving your judgment to things and situations, don’t.

It may feel difficult at first, but your judgment is never needed. A thing will be what it is without you declaring it as such.

In addition, forgive your past judgments. You may have judged incorrectly.

Your wisdom cannot exceed your current level of understanding.

Since you seem to be wiser now, it may be wise to reassess your somewhat unwise judgments.

Let them all go.

4. Having no purpose

Nothing can outlive its purpose.

When you have no further use for a thing, you throw, hide, or give it away.

The same is true for what you would like to attract.

If you have no purpose for attracting it, it will always seem to flee from your grasp.

That which you chase will always run away.

Law of Attraction: Corrective Action #4

To remedy this, always set your purpose for whatever it is you want.

If you want money, know why you want money and be ready to use it purposefully.

Doing things purposefully does not mean you have to have a divine reason for doing something. It just means you are taking your rightful place in the cause/effect spectrum.

As you know, all things are cause and effect. Your thoughts are the cause of all that you seem to experience.

Yet you sometimes let effects be your cause. This is backward.

Being purposeful allows you to recognize that you are the cause.

5. Your Wants Are Contradictory

This was touched on briefly above with setting impossible missions or tasks.

Contradictory wants are when you want one thing, but you also want the opposite.

For example, you want to eat what you consider healthy, but you also want to eat what you consider as not healthy.

Another example is you may want to be loved, but you don’t love yourself. Or to state it another way, you want others to love you unconditionally, but you don’t love others without conditions.

If you are truly willing to look, you can find these contradictions everywhere.

As far as the law of attraction is concerned, when your wants are contradictory, values get priority.

The law of attraction is not so much “like attracts like”, but “values attract values”.

When you value drama more than you do peace, even if you say hundreds of peaceful affirmations a day, you’ll still attract drama.

How do you know what you value?

First, listen to what you share with others. When you’re talking to your best friend, take notice of all the things you want to tell him or her.

You can only share what you have to share, and what you share, you feel you are.

If you share love always, then you’re a loving person.

But if you share love sometimes and hateful comments other times, then you’re both loving and hateful, which means nothing, lol, because these both cancel each other out.

So pick a side. Go full force on your values.

Another way to know exactly what you value is to pay attention to how you speak when you speak of things.

For instance, if you speak in a bland manner about your job, but excitingly when speaking about what happened on your favorite television show, then you value that television show, but not your job so much.

Law of Attraction: Corrective Action #5

Get a buddy to point out your mistakes.

We all enjoy pointing out mistakes from time to time, but this time is special. You are giving your friend full permission to correct you every time.

Tell your buddy that any time you do or say something contradictory, they get to correct you immediately.

After a few times, you’ll be more aware and able to notice these contradictions before you share them.

Sometime after, you’ll be fully in alignment with all of your thoughts.

6. Your Actions Are Contradictory

This mistake is very similar to the above, but it deserves its own section.

It’s true that your actions follow your wants in the same way that an effect follows its cause.

As was also stated earlier, you may have the habit of letting an effect be your cause.

In this way, you should also correct your actions because they can be based on a purposeless cause.

The purposeless cause is beautifully reflected within the Five Monkeys Experiment. For those unfamiliar, watch this minute and a half video that explains it beautifully.

Law of Attraction: Corrective Action #5

To not have contradictory actions, self-awareness is still a priority here. Pay attention to your thoughts, words, and actions.

Question your beliefs and know why you do what you do.

Use a law-of-attraction journal if you have to.

If you don’t understand why ask for help? Many are willing to give great advice for free.

When you find yourself acting in a manner that’s contradictory to what you want, stop yourself immediately. There is no benefit to continuing in this manner.

During a later time of mindful reflection, decide what would have been a better course of action.

Then welcome all similar circumstances as an opportunity to show you are aligned with what you want to attract.

7. Not fully understanding vibrational match

This common mistake is a big one!

It may even want to make you exit this article immediately and never read another word I write. But stick with me because knowing this will change EVERYTHING!

A victim and his or her oppressor are a vibrational match. They attract each other.

Woah!

Let me explain how this works within the law of attraction with the following example.

When you believe that there are “bad” people in the world and that they can take something from you, you begin to move accordingly. You take certain precautions on how you go about your day.

But since you are the cause of all things in your life, in order for your movements to make sense, you must see examples of these “bad” people.

So if anyone matches this description, they are brought into your awareness.

Sometimes this can be from afar and other times it can be up close & personal.

It doesn’t end there. Once you’ve crossed paths with an individual (set by the intentions you’ve set through your beliefs), you share this with as many people as possible.

You become an advocate for these “bad” people you’ve attracted thus attracting more. You may even become an expert on them.

In other cases, you may begin to hide away from the world fearing your own imagined creation.

As the saying goes, opposites attract. But now you understand how they aren’t opposites at all.

They serve as witnesses to one another.

Law of Attraction: Corrective Action #7

First, focus on what you are, not what you aren’t.

For example, if you aren’t “bad” then don’t focus on “bad” people.

You’ve already unknowingly used the law of attraction to attract those that are just as you are.

Your friends, family, and workmates may share similar values.

Once your values change, so will your environment and the people in it.

There is never a need to fear another. In reality, you aren’t fearing them. You are only fearing your imagined idea of them.

The Law of Attraction Recap

Smile. You now know exactly what to do to manifest what you think will add to your joy.

To make this complete, I want to point out a simple way to attract the greatest life possible, not just what you think will add to your happiness.

Being.

When you are … or when you are in a state of being, you are saying that you fully trust God and/or the universe.

You are affirming that you have no needs and are complete.

Without you creating the need for you to need anything, you will never be without anything.

If you had the keys to the universe, would you trust them to someone always searching for something more or someone that is perfectly content no matter what?

Be.

All of the ACTION STEPS

Focus on what is abundant.

Live in the present moment always.

Don’t judge anything and forgive your past judgments.

Do everything purposefully.

Be consistent with what you want.

Ensure your actions are in line with your desires.

Understand that to judge anything is to create circumstances where it will manifest in your life.

BONUS – Be.

Your mind controls what your body sees, hears, and experiences. It can lead you to a world of abundance or one of scarcity.

A tool cannot exceed the wisdom of its wielder. In other words, learn to use your tool properly so you can wield a world worth living.

Your mind is here to help you.

1. Focus Only/Fully On The Task At Hand

A split focus is similar to one person’s eyes going in two different directions. Yes, it happens, but you can’t really see as clearly as when both eyes are focused on the same thing.

Each time you attempt to juggle two tasks at once, you lose more focus than just half of each.

Let’s say that 100% represents your total focus at any given moment. When you split this focus among two things, each thing does not get an equal 50% of your focus. There is another percentage placed on juggling the two.

It would look more like:

45% on Task 1

45% on Task 2

10% on juggling the two tasks

You may be thinking that 10% isn’t a big deal. Well, what about when you’re juggling four things, or even more?

10% on Remembering to Send Important Email Later

30% on Talking on the Phone

15% on Cooking Dinner

10% on Watching Kids

35% on Juggling Tasks

To really understand this, let’s put it in terms of money.

Let’s say a person only paid you 30% of the money they owed you. Would you like it? No. You want all your money.

Give the objects of your tasks the same respect. This leads to you actually completing tasks well and in less time resulting in more free time.

A completely focused mind has the power to manifest something out of nothing instantly. An unfocused mind can also manifest, it just may take years.

Stay focused.

2. Stop Contradicting Yourself

Contradiction is closely related to focus. It’s two equal focuses in opposing direction.

It would be equivalent to focusing 50% on what you want and another 50% on what you don’t want.

Those two focuses would cancel each other out and you wouldn’t have seemed to accomplish what you set.

Some common contradictions may include:

Believing in God and His abundant blessings, but being scared of dying, being broke, and loneliness

Wanting your friends to stop being selfish and focus on what you want instead

Calling a person stupid, but continuously engaging with that person

Wanting love, but hating people

Remove the contradictions. Have a singular focus regarding all things.

When you contradict yourself, you undo everything you just created with the power of your focus. To say it another way, you create the opposite of what you’ve just created.

Let go of the law of opposites/duality. Embrace the truth. Truth has no opposite. Some may say a lie is the truth’s opposite, but a lie can never undo the truth.

This leads us to the next way to have your mind serve you.

3. Know.

Yes.

As the saying goes, knowledge is power.

However, many really don’t understand this saying at all. Many people believe that it means you must accumulate knowledge in order to be powerful.

No.

To think that you must accumulate knowledge creates the separation between you and knowledge. It becomes something you must take and try to keep, which is explained in more detail in Major Life Lessons #2.

From the non-contradictory singular focus aspect, if you take something, it can be taken from you.

This is why you always have that which you share with others. What you share with others is shared with you.

Among these endless exchanges, you in fact keep (not try to keep) what you share, because it’s given back to you more abundantly.

In order to share knowledge, you must have knowledge. To have knowledge, you must be knowledgeable.

You have the answers to all of your real questions.

Know.

Don’t create the thought that you don’t.

Know.

Don’t split your focus between taking knowledge and having knowledge taken. Be knowledge.

Know.

4. Practice with your thoughts, words, and actions.

Here’s my favorite saying again.

Of the above, your thoughts, words, and actions are in your control. Your habits, character, and destiny are just the effects of that control.

In the same way that a single focus allows you to manifest and create quickly, a single focus shared amongst two or more people multiplies this effect.

Since you possess this power of focus and manifestation, so does your fellow man.

When you create against another what he is creating for himself, neither of you truly create anything.

However, when you create in accord with what another is creating for him or herself, then not only is that creation created awesomely, you both get to benefit from it.

Practice this with your thoughts, words, and actions.

Think positive thoughts, say loving words, and show kind actions toward every person you come in contact with even if they aren’t doing the same.

But wouldn’t that person’s actions then contradict what you’re doing?

Ah, you’re paying attention.

This does not contradict because it’s from the perspective of your mind.

If your single purpose is love, for instance, that would be all you see, hear, and experience. This is because you are not letting anything get in the way of that. You are 100% focused on it.

The other person will see and feel this. His mind will quickly shift and meet you in this space of love.

Your 100% focus on love is greater than his 50% focus on love. His is only 50% because although he was loving himself in that moment (which could be debated), he wasn’t loving you at that moment (which could also be debated ). So he wasn’t fully focused on love.

The dominance of your love will out-love any hate the way that light outshines darkness.

5. Stop Thinking

What?!?!

I know.

This entire article had to do with your thoughts, but now I’m telling you to stop thinking.

Why?

Let’s look at what happens when you stop thinking. You’re clear, you feel free, you have fun, you enjoy yourself, and many more wonderful things.

This is why vacations are so amazing. You leave most of your thoughts and worries behind.

This is similar to being “in the zone” with whatever action you’re doing. It’s like you produce without thought and time ceases to exist.

Again, your mind is responsible for what you see. When you stop thinking, what is real is seen clearly. If you had been thinking about something that wasn’t real, then it would quickly fade from your vision.

Well, what’s real?

As you know, I say things like pain is an illusion and that there are no such things as enemies.

The reason goes back to this.

Photo by Josue & Kerry of Friday Feels Production

When conflict is shared, it’s destined to come to an end because nobody constantly wants conflict. It’s not enjoyable.

It will be let go because it’s not valuable.

What happens when something is let go of? It’s never heard of from again. It dies in a sense.

When you embody conflict, you are aligning your identity with something that will die.

So conflict and even death aren’t natural. They won’t remain eternally.

On the other hand, something like love is shared by all. Everyone loves to love because love is love. It’s the one thing that people will never let go of.

Even when they try to let go of it, it’s really just a cry for love so its presence still remains.

When you embody love, you align yourself with that which will always remain.

Love is not a thought. It’s not really even a feeling. It’s what remains when you let go of everything.

So don’t think. It gets in the way of your loving.

This article was written by JClay, the spiritual rapper and healer. Visit JClay for more wisdom, music, and insights.

Depression touches more people than we realize—often in ways they’re not even aware of. Whether you’re trying to help a loved one or you’re feeling the weight yourself, this guide offers 10 practical and deeply spiritual ways to support healing. These aren’t surface tips. They’re transformational steps drawn from lived experience, inner work, and the truth that peace is always available, no matter the darkness.

The most important thing to remember is this: Depression is not a death sentence. It’s not a promise of a sad life. And it’s definitely not permanent.

According to Healthline, an estimated 16.2 million adults in the U.S. have experienced major depression. This guide on how to help someone with depression is written for everyone of them—and for those who love them.

If you’re the one struggling, I encourage you to still try these steps for someone else. Helping others is a powerful path to helping yourself, because no one gets out of depression alone.

Let’s dive into what truly helps.

Table of Contents

Never Take Anything Personally

Treat Them Like the Perfect Self They Are

Ask Positive-Ended Questions

Send Them “Let Go”

Be Your Best Self

Learn About Wellness, Not Depression

Don’t Say What Not to Do Without Giving Something to Do

Have No Expectations

Keep in Touch

Follow Your Heart

1. Don’t take it personally — it’s not about you

A person who feels depressed and separated from the world is going to say some depressing things. That’s obvious.

What isn’t obvious is your reaction to it.

Remember, it’s never about you, even if they say something that seems insulting. If you can remember this one thing, then you will have made the biggest step toward healing those with depression.

Similarly, since it’s never about you, make everything about them.

Sounds simple enough, except we’re too wrapped in ourselves. The thought of helping another could trigger negative thoughts, such as, “Well, what about me? Why do I have to be the one to help all the time? Why can’t I get help?”

These thoughts deepen the sense of separation, making you feel more like a depressed person and less like yourself.

By making everything about the other person, not only do you change the belief that no one helps, but you also become that belief. You become proof that help is always available & free.

This has numerous positive effects on your life as well. Most importantly, this will lead to you never fearing a situation because you’ll know that no matter what, someone will help you if needed.

But the only way to truly know that is to live it. To live it, you must give it. So give help always without question and hesitation.

You have more awareness and self-control than to react negatively to anyone who says something seemingly negative. Show that by never taking anything personally ever again.

2. Treat them like the perfect self they are

There’s an art to making everything about others.

Your beliefs make up your whole world. When you believe that the world and everyone in it sucks, you’re going to be depressed. When you believe that everything and everyone is love, you’re going to be happy.

A depressed person is going to say things aligned with the idea that the world and themselves are sucky. Look beyond this. The fact that you’re willing to help that person means you already see something greater in him or her.

Speak only to that.

Don’t acknowledge anything seemingly negative. You don’t have to disagree, just don’t agree.

Find ways to speak highly of them. Give examples of their greatness. Remind them of ways they do wonderful things.

By focusing on others in this manner, you, too, will gain a great appreciation for them. Your days will be happier because you get to be in the presence of those you appreciate. The objects of your appreciation will genuinely feel this appreciation and will want to live up to it to continue to receive your favor.

3. Ask positive-ended questions

“How are you doing?” should never be asked when dealing with a seemingly depressed person. They are not doing great.

One variation could be, “What’s good with you?” But this can lead to them replying, “Nothing at all.”

The goal is to get them to talk about themselves positively.

Here are some examples of how to do this:

“You’ve always been an expert at [blah blah blah], how did you even know to do something like that?”

“I know that was an interesting year, but what’s your favorite thing that happened in 2020?”

“What’s one childhood memory that no matter what always made you smile?”

If you’re following me on Instagram, you’re probably like…”Hey, these are things you’re asking us.” Yes, because they work!

Be creative, though, and use your normal way of asking questions.

If you need ideas for questions, here’s a list of Positive Questions To Ask Yourself Daily that can shift the mood instantly.

4. Send them “Let Go”

Let Go is a different kind of hip-hop song for a reason. It allows you to see exactly how you are sabotaging yourself repeatedly.

This resource has been valuable to hundreds of thousands and it will be valuable to your loved ones as well.

This is the song’s link (jclay.org/letgo). Send this to someone you know is depressed.

However, when you send “Let Go”, send it like you would any other song. Don’t send it saying something like, “I know you’re depressed, so listen to this.” Nobody wants to be reminded of their depression.

How to do this?

I would suggest a variation of:

“OMG, this is the song of the year. Listen to this. I don’t even know what just happened.”

“Dude, I’m speechless. This song just told me everything I was going through.”

“Oh snap, we gotta support this dude. Listen to this now.”

Copy this link to your clipboard now so that you can share it when you finish reading this article. (jclay.org/letgo)

To understand how this song works on a deeper level, read the full Let Go lyrics breakdown.

5. Be your best self

This may seem contradictory to what I mentioned that you should make everything about others, but it is not.

Being your best self allows you to be an example. When others see how happy and unaffected by outside circumstances you are, they will get curious. They will want to know how you do what you do.

The irony is, you may be doing this just as an example for them, but it still helps you both.

What does it mean to be your best self?

To be your best self means you listen to your heart. You focus on what is within. You are never without anything. The best way to demonstrate this to yourself is to go within. This will take practice, but start now.

6. Learn about wellness, not depression

Learning about wellness ties to the previous tip. It allows you to practice the tools that help you be your best self.

Although you want to help those with depression, it is not necessary to learn about depression. For example, learning about poverty will never teach you about wealth. It is only when you focus on wealth, you will understand it.

Similarly, you are to learn about wellness because it’s ultimately what you want.

How to start?

Start here with these daily affirmations. You can say these anytime and anywhere out loud or in your head. These affirmations will begin to heal your world at its source.

Read A Course In Miracles (Full Review). This is a real course, complete with daily exercises that will correct your perception. I recommend the physical book and not the audio version. The reason is that this book isn’t a simple read. If you get the audiobook, you will find yourself rewinding, rewinding, and rewinding because each line is that powerful.

Last, teach wellness to others. You can do this verbally and/or by being an example of it. To truly learn something, you must know it so well that you can teach it. To truly teach something, you must learn it.

7. Don’t say what not to do without giving something to do

I feel like there’s a better way to word number 7, I just couldn’t think of it.

Those with depression are frustrated with their worlds. They want to be out of their depression and are looking for help from anyone and anything willing to provide sound advice on the subject. Even though it’s hard to tell what sound advice is while in a depressed state, they still want guidance.

Saying not to do something does not seem to help because it creates another question. “If I can’t do this, then what do I do?”

To remedy this, always have examples of what to do instead whenever you suggest what not to do.

8. Have no expectations

Focus on what is present.

Expectations can also lead to depression. Expectations are future-based. They ignore what is present and instead favor the future.

Since the future has not come and never will, you are giving attention to a world that does not exist. For a deeper look at why pain and evil only seem real, check out There Is No Death, No Pain, and No Evil.

You are missing the wonderfulness that exists right now. By continuing to ignore it right now, it will seemingly fade from your awareness.

You will be fully immersed in a world that you can never get to.

Instead of setting expectations on healing yourself or others, focus on what is here now. And yes, I made a song about that too, called Right Now.

9. Keep in touch

Those who are depressed feel alone. Although loneliness itself is impossible, those who are depressed aren’t aware of that. Checking up with someone with depression will make them feel more loved.

This is the easiest thing to do. It can be a phone call, a text, or even a positive thought toward him or her.

You don’t even have to go out of your way. Keep it simple. A little does go a long way.

10. Follow your heart

This is how to follow your heart.

Everything you ever need to know exists within. You feel cut off from it only because you have the habit of trying to look without.

Every interaction with another presents an opportunity for you to join with that person in perfection.

There isn’t a way to prepare for this. Everyone has their unique perception of the world. The goal is to align with truth so that instead of perceiving, you see truly.

By checking within and following your heart, you will know at any given moment what’s needed to extend and share that love with another.

This is not found in the future, and it does not exist in the past. It is right here, right now. Always.

Ultimately, how to help a friend with depression is also how to help yourself be a better person.

It’s a win-win.

Is your family toxic? How can you be sure?

First off, I commend you for even clicking on this article. There are many that would encourage you to remove yourself from the presence of toxic people immediately. You have shown that you want to try a different approach. Or maybe you are in a situation where you can’t get away so easily. Either way, you made the right choice.

By the end of this article, you’ll know how to identify toxic people, how to be free of them forever, and how to always be in a loving environment. Therefore, I encourage you to read to the end.

“If you think you are enlightened, go spend a week with your family.” -Ram Dass

What Makes a Person Toxic?

Before we dive into what you should do around toxic people, let’s get on the same page about what a toxic person really is.

A 2016 article on Psychology Today listed the 8 things that most toxic people in your life have in common. These 8 things are:

They are not caring, supportive, or interested in what’s important to you.

They take no responsibility for their own feelings.

They make you prove yourself to them.

They make you defend yourself.

Toxic people are manipulative.

They are inconsistent.

They don’t apologize.

They are judgmental.

To sum it up, a toxic person is an energy vampire. They feed off your “life force” so that they can build themselves up.

Let’s break down 3 of these because all 8 are basically saying the same things in a different way, which is, “I matter more than you.”

1. They are not caring, supportive, or interested in what’s important to you.

Because you can only see through the eyes of your beliefs, you want what’s important to you to be also important to everyone. As a result, you understand that everyone wants that as well for themselves.

Or do you?

Let’s say you’re in a situation where a family member wants a goal for you that is in direct opposition to the goal you want for yourself. This can result in conflict, especially since you don’t understand why they won’t just support you. It is of course, your life.

At the same time, you are not supporting them in the way they want to support you. They feel that they are being selfless because they are “helping” you. Henceforward, you both exhibit toxic behavior toward one another by not being supportive in the way the other wants.

Does that make you a toxic person or just a person with toxic behavior? Let’s come back to this question later.

2. They take no responsibility for their own feelings.

Everyone has met that person who blames everyone else for their troubles. They say things like, “You never support me. You make me so angry. This is all your fault…”

All the while, they never look at themselves.

It can seem very difficult to be around such people because they only think of themselves and never even think to support you. Instead, they just make you angry. It’s their fault that you even get angry at all.

Wait a minute…it seems like you are doing to them what you are accusing them of doing to you.

So does that make you a toxic person or just a person reacting to toxic behavior in a toxic way? You don’t have to answer this right now either.

3. They make you prove yourself to them.

As described above, toxic people want you to prove that you love them by doing something you may not want to do. They want you to support them in some way or even do them a favor. When you don’t, they complain about it saying you don’t care about them. They may even list examples of when they helped you.

Observe what feelings surface in response to the following questions.

Have your family and friends proved themselves to you yet?

Do they even have to?

How do you feel when you ask them for a favor and they don’t come through?

Do you feel similar to what was described above of the toxic person?

If you feel similar to that of a toxic person, does that make you a toxic person?

The Pattern of Toxicity

You’re starting to see a pattern. A person is not really toxic, they just exhibit toxic behavior from time to time. They are inconsistent in that way, which is one of the listed traits.

It’s also starting to look like you are the toxic person you claim another to be. This is because there is no separation between what you feel and what you experience.

Whenever a person experiences an unwanted feeling, he thinks that separating it from himself will lead to him feeling better. To try and separate it, he projects this behavior onto another thus creating his own enemy in a sense.

This is a major breakthrough because you can begin to see how you’ve also done this. Once you are aware, you can make the necessary changes.

What To Remember About Energy Vampirism

If someone can take your energy, this means that someone can also give you energy. Similarly, if someone can be toxic, this means someone can be a cure.

It is as easy to focus on the energy drainers as it is to focus on the energy givers. Since what you focus on expands, it’s better to focus on the energy givers instead.

Instead of just focusing on the energy givers, what if you could become an energy giver?

A lot of people believe that to give is to lose, but in reality, to give is to receive.

This is why when you project to separate, you still experience what you’re projecting.

You can try this experiment right now.

Give a genuine compliment to someone. Observe their reaction and yours. You would observe how happy they get and how much more happy it makes you.

Now, criticize someone harshly. Ok, you don’t have to do this one. That bad feeling that you felt in your heart shows that you don’t really want to give that because you know that you’ll receive it. And in some ways, just by thinking it, you already have.

Being A Energy Giver, Being the Cure

Check out this shift in perspective.

A toxic person wants to feel better by either taking your energy or making you feel smaller.

On the flip side, an energy giver wants you to feel better by either giving you energy or making you feel better.

The same result is applied, but everybody feels better about it. By being an energy giver, you also receive the energy you gave but in greater amounts. That’s all a “toxic” person wants.

Don’t talk about my drawing.

The next time a “toxic” person comes your way, willingly give them that love that they are really asking for. You will have cured them of their toxicity making your environment toxic-free and peaceful.

The Role Your Family & Friends Play In Your Life

In truth, the only toxic person you’ve ever perceived is yourself. Now that you know how not to be toxic, you won’t perceive it in others.

Because your loved ones are so close to you, they can bring up feelings that you would not care to have around others.

What’s special about this is they are reflecting your innermost thoughts. They are showing you what you need to overcome to remain happy. How can a person such as that ever be toxic? They are your savior.

Will you try to see the world another way? Let me know in the comments.

This article was written by JClay, the spiritual rapper and healer. Visit JClay for more wisdom, music, and insights.

How to be happy is a question we have asked ourselves for lifetimes. A lot of what we do daily is our attempt to find happiness and try to recreate past moments that have made us happy.

But what if there was a way to be happy all the time? Literally ALL THE TIME. You lose a job or a client, happy. When you end a romantic relationship, happy. If you perceive that something was stolen from you, HAPPY!

You get my point. The questions we’ll explore in this article are:

How does society currently define happiness?

What is happiness really?

Can unceasing happiness be achieved?

Would you really want to be happy all the time if you could?

How to do it?

I will also give a bonus tip on how you can instantly boost your mood.

By the end of this article, not only will you be happier for having read it, you may even begin to see the world in a new color.

Let’s start at the beginning.

How does society currently define happiness?

According to the Google dictionary, happiness is the state of being happy. Duh! So what’s happy. According to the same dictionary, the word happy means feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.

Here’s a few more just to get on the same page:

Pleasure – a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment

Contentment – a state of happiness and satisfaction

Satisfaction – fulfillment of one’s wishes, expectations, or needs, or the pleasure derived from this

Enjoyment – the state or process of taking pleasure in something or the action of possessing and benefiting from something

Something – a thing that is unspecified or unknown

I also do computer programming from time to time and I’m going to do the nerdiest thing ever. I’m going to substitute the definitions for the word like it’s a computer variable to see what we come up with.

Happiness is the state of being feeling/showing pleasure or contentment.

Happiness is the state of being feeling/showing a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment or a state of happiness and satisfaction.

The last part is saying the same thing so we’ll scratch that out.

Happiness is the state of being feeling/showing a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment or a state of happiness and satisfaction.

Happiness is the state of being feeling/showing a feeling of happy fulfillment of one’s wishes, expectations, or needs, or the pleasure derived from this and the state or process of taking pleasure in something or the action of possessing and benefiting from something.

This is getting complicated, but we’re getting somewhere.

The new definitions of happiness

It looks like the dictionary’s definition of happiness is one of two things.

Setting an expectation and then meeting it.

Taking or possessing something that you benefit from.

And if we substituted the word something with its definition, the above would be:

Setting an expectation and then meeting it.

Taking or possessing a thing that is unspecified or unknown that you benefit from.

This is very interesting. The first definition of happiness implies that you set the standard for what happiness is. The second definition implies that you have no idea what thing or things would make you happy.

No wonder people can’t “find” happiness. It’s because they don’t know what they are looking for, which is also just an idea they created for themselves.

Are you with me or did I go too deep too fast? “That’s what she said!” Sorry, I couldn’t resist. It made me “happy” to do it.

In other words, you have the power to create what happiness is for you.

So if, for example, you decide that happiness is having a million dollars in your bank account, you won’t be happy until you achieve it. Similarly, if you define happiness as just having a bank account, then as long as you have one you will always be happy.

This is all, however, assuming the dictionary’s definition of happiness is correct.

Even according to that same dictionary, we don’t know what happiness is. So could we truly “know” anything else?

What is happiness really?

One thing is for certain. Everyone has experienced happiness at some point. Even if at an unliked job or in the presence of a loved one, we’ve all had a glimpse of bliss.

Travel with me to one of those blissful moments.

Close your eyes.

Select one of those moments.

Then open your eyes again.

What did you notice about when you were in that blissful moment?

You may have noticed that you didn’t have a care in the world. No matter what anyone said or did, you found a way to share your happiness with another. Soon you were joined with that person in that happiness, even if for a second.

What can we use from this information?

Quite a few things, actually.

The first thing is that time was not a factor at that moment. We weren’t reveling in our past to relive a moment as we just did. We weren’t even thinking about our future. We were fully engaged at that moment. In doing so, we received all the pleasure that moment had to offer.

The second thing is that no matter what someone said or how our environment was, we never let anything diminish our happiness. We actually increased it by giving it freely to another.

This is actually perfectly aligned with the original definition as recorded by Google. Happiness is the state of being happy.

You may have already realized, I missed an important phrase within that definition, state of being.

Photo by Josue & Kerry of Friday Feels Production

I believe to know what the state of being is, but let’s double-check.

being – existence or the nature or essence of a person.

existence – the fact or state of living or having objective reality.

essence – the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something, especially something abstract, that determines its character.

That got complicated real fast.

In layman’s terms, we cannot explain our existence. We just know that we exist.

Now, what if we combine the state of being with timelessness or with being fully rooted in the present moment? This means that you fully accept what is happening right now.

This may not even be able to be correctly executed because who we think we are is a collection of our past. So even our view of now is altered.

Let’s not go down that road yet. Instead, let’s compare other extreme states of being such as sadness, madness, and scaredness.

Exploring other states of being

Sadness is a state where you’re sad about something that happened in the past. The same with madness. If it were happening to you now, you would be more concerned with changing it then dwelling in it. So those aren’t a true state of “being”.

How about scaredness. It’s when you’re afraid of something or someone. To be afraid of something or someone, you must have defined it as a threat. That also exists in time. The only way we could be afraid of something is if we heard a frightening story about it or we experienced firsthand in the past something we perceive like it.

Back to the state of happiness

With happiness, however, there’s nothing to compare it to. We’re just happy. We could even hypothesize that happiness is our natural state of being or even the only state of being.

Some of the happiest humans in the world that we know are babies and children. It’s how we get the saying, “Ignorance is bliss.” We are so conceited as to think we know a secret about life, yet we’re the ones that aren’t happy all the time.

Even our old are rejuvenated in the presence of happy children.

Yet we teach kids of time and its effects, which seems to take away from their happiness throughout time. Or more accurately stated, people give away their happiness to time.

Happiness is really as Google stated. It’s the state of being happy.

We can even enter this state at any moment by letting go of the past and any idea of the future.

But is this sustainable? Can we achieve a constant neverending state of happiness?

Can unceasing happiness be achieved?

Based on what we believe to know about happiness, this is possible, but it will take practice.

Remember:

The thoughts that we think are in fact influenced by our beliefs.

The words we speak are influenced by our thoughts.

Our actions are influenced by our words.

Our habits are influenced by our actions, which become part of our beliefs.

Beliefs and habits aren’t as easy to recognize or control as much as our thoughts, words, and actions.

We know that we need to do two things in order to be happy.

Be in the moment (don’t be thinking about the past or the future).

Think happy thoughts.

The first of those two will definitely help, but the second seems incomplete or a bit off.

The problem is that most of our beliefs are based on past beliefs that may or may not be true. So what we consider to be a happy thought could be working against us.

For example, someone could think a happy thought would be to slap someone upside the head and cause him or her pain because it’s perceived that they deserve it.

As we have discovered earlier with happiness, the more you give of something, the more of it you have to give. Those that gave happiness freely increased their own because now their environment reflected it back.

So to give anything but happiness to another is to receive it.

Happiness rewrite

Let’s rewrite the two things that need to be done for unceasing happiness.

Be in the moment (don’t “be” thinking about the past or the future).

Give happiness always (don’t “be” giving words/actions of attack or judgment).

That’s a little better, but there’s still a question that remains unanswered.

How do you give happiness? Well, you give happiness the same way you give anything else, with love.

Giving implies you don’t expect anything in return. Although you know it will be returned because it will create a ripple effect in your world that adapts to what you gave it.

So even when we give an attack, it’s with love. We’re saying we love to attack and we wish to receive it (or be attacked) as well one day.

This is insane thinking when you think about it. Yet this is what we create with our words and actions.

It seems that the only way to give happiness is to have the happiness to give. And in order to have the happiness to give, we must be happy.

That brings us back to our original definition once again, the state of being happy.

Is it really that easy? Just. Be. Happy.

…

I am pausing the writing of this article to “be happy” for the next 24 hours.

To symbolize this break, take a listen.

Wow! The results of my 24-hour experiment were enlightening indeed. More on that later.

For now, let’s answer this. Would you really want to be happy all the time if you could?

Do you want to be happy all the time, really?

The obvious answer should be, “YES!” But for many, there’s resistance.

This resistance is a clue to your current state of being. You value non-happiness more than happiness.

How could this be, especially when everyone enjoys happiness?

As we learned above, the hierarchy of our being is beliefs > thoughts > words > actions > habits > character > beliefs.

By thinking thoughts of non-happiness or speaking those words, it becomes a part of who you are. You habitually value non-happiness.

Since your values have now become skewed, you may often resent the happy person.

To be happy all the time means you smile often. It means that you see others as loving human beings no matter the face they portray. To be happy all the time means you enjoy every second of every day.

Before you started reading this, were you enjoying your day? What about yesterday?

Actually, don’t answer that. There’s no value in previous moments. Or better yet, this moment will always be more valuable than any other moment.

Instead of asking do you want to be happy all the time, let’s ask something more aligned with your beliefs.

Are you ready to try to be happy all the time? Are you ready to try and try again until it is your reality?

For me, the answer is yes. Join me in my pursuit of this endless state of bliss.

How to be happy all the time no matter what

So now we’re getting to what we all want to know, how to be happy, and how to keep this happiness forever.

I’ll start with the 24-hour experiment I mentioned above.

Throughout that day I checked in within myself constantly to ask myself, “Are you choosing happiness at this moment?

A lot of the time, the answer was no. This was a big wake up call for me. No wonder I wasn’t being happy. I wasn’t choosing to be happy.

So I compiled a list of things you can do that will lead to you being happy all the time. Memorize this. I will go into further details of each item including making affirmations of these.

Ask yourself multiple times a day, “Am I choosing happiness at this moment?”

Stay firmly rooted in the moment.

Surround yourself with happiness.

Give only happiness to others.

Forgive.

Ask yourself multiple times a day, “Am I choosing happiness at this moment?”

Out of all the steps, this is the most important and takes the most effort. As long as you continuously ask yourself this, all the other steps will fall into place.

So do what you need to do. Here are some suggestions:

Put sticky-note reminders everywhere (near your bed, on your bathroom mirror, as your phone’s background image, etc.)

Set your intention just before sleeping and just after waking to ask yourself if you are being happy.

Ask a friend to be your accountability partner where you remind each other all day long.

Download a task app and a put reminder in your phone that pops up every 30 minutes.

Ask Nike and Shia LaBeouf have said, “Just do it!”

Stay firmly rooted in the moment.

It’s so easy for our minds to wander to moments that aren’t here. It could be to thoughts of the past or thoughts of a non-existent future.

Whichever the case, those moments are not here.

Train your mind through practice to stay here, now.

I know. This means not sharing your painful story with others. It means not speculating what could possibly happen if you make a “mistake”.

You will be fully untethered to anything, yet free to experience everything.

Surround yourself with happiness.

Do a check of your environments in order to determine what your mind eats.

Yes, a mind can eat. It takes in many images, words, and ideas per day.

Really listen to the music you’re listening to. Are the words expressing more happiness or are they sewing seeds of separation?

Many that listen to my songs have expressed how they were able to become happier people almost overnight.

This is mostly because my songs are written in a way that shows you your thoughts for what they really are. You’ll be able to distinguish the real from the illusion.

There’s nothing to feel bad about when it comes to believing false-truths. We’ve all been there and they are the easiest things to overcome.

Give only happiness to others.

I read an interesting quote from the book A Course in Miracles. “What you perceive in others, you strengthen in yourself.”

This is another way of saying you reap what you sew. It is also another way of saying Newton’s Third Law: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

We can now see the relationship between giving and receiving.

If we give happiness to others, we will receive it back from others. Happiness will be reflected to us at every turn.

Sometimes to get what we think we want, we give guilt to others. We give attack and pain.

To give these things is to strengthen the idea of them within ourselves. We are telling ourselves that things like guilt, attack, and pain are precious and worthy to be shared.

Then we wonder why we receive them so frequently.

This can be undone easily by only giving what you want.

Love all with all of your heart and you will receive love.

Forgive.

Since everyone is led by different desires it’s not possible for each to know what’s best for another, especially when you are not in your own happy state.

So to judge a thing is to create the way that makes you unhappy. And if you make 30 judgments per day, for example, you now have 30 things that won’t ever bring you happiness. Multiply that by 365 and in one year you have 10,950 ways to be unhappy.

If you’re older than 10, then you possibly have more than 100,000 ways to NOT be happy. That’s no fun.

Focus only on what you want, not what you don’t.

Forgiveness is the way to rejoin what was separated through judgment.

It’s easy to let go of judgment because you don’t know for sure if what you’ve judged is correct or not. You only see the world through your eyes.

By being accepting of all, you will always be accepted by all.

8 Affirmations To Say To Stay Happy

I went ahead and made a list of affirmations out of the above list to help you remain in your natural state of happiness. Say these 8 to yourself twice a day, every day.

Yes, you read that right. These books will heal you. You could also just listen to my album. But if you want the book version of healing, read on.

Let’s clarify what it means to heal. To heal is to return to your natural state. It is to dispel all illusion. To heal is to bring you aligned with truth.

Truth never changes. What is true is true for all without exemption.

Your mind controls your body and you control your mind. So to heal the mind is to heal the body.

Believing False Truths

A lot of what we consider to be real is an illusion. We came in contact with an idea and we let that idea manifest in our life. Examples of these ideas are: “It’s natural to get sick”, “Stranger danger”, “You have to work hard for money”, “Sex before marriage is wrong”, etc.

I already know, some of these may have you yelling at your screen, “No, that belief is TRUE!” But if you truly believed it to be true, you wouldn’t be angered by some saying it is not. For example, “The ocean is yellow.” See, that didn’t make you angry.

The following books are books that helped me tremendously in letting go of the unknowingly false beliefs that I held so tight.

And now I pass them along to you.

My only instruction is, don’t read these books simply because I recommended them. Read them because you are drawn to a particular book at this exact moment.

The Money Books

I’m starting with the money books because many people believe in money.

1. Rich Dad Poor Dad

I’m sure many of you have heard of Rich Dad Poor Dad. It’s a personal finance/business book that has sold over 32 million copies in over 51 languages across 109 countries according to Wikipedia.

I love this book because the focus is on mindset and not necessarily money. Believing in money itself can be very limiting. Believing that you can create wealth at any time is very empowering. As a result of creating wealth, you receive wealth.

Rich Dad Poor Dad was introduced to me by the father of my business partner. This came at a time when I was fresh out of college. The strange thing was despite my scholastic success, I never fully grasped the idea that you could learn useful information from a book. Mainly because I felt school books were forced upon me and I never cared to read them, even when required.

Rich Dad Poor Dad was the first that changed my mindset on books and on that of wealth in general.

If you feel you always have money problems, give this book a read. It won’t solve your problems, but it will help you to see that money was never a problem.

Warning: After reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, you may feel the need to blindly jump into an investment opportunity. There’s nothing wrong with this, but make sure you do your due diligence.

I’ve reread this book recently and it still holds up. I even found a few limiting beliefs that remained.

2. The Richest Man in Babylon

This book was actually mentioned in the previous book I recommended. The Richest Man in Babylon is a straight-up guide on becoming wealthy.

It’s very practical, but most importantly it removes some of those misbeliefs that have sewed the seeds of broke-ness.

I used the principles outlined in this book the last couple of years I was at my day job. In my last 2 years there, I was able to pay off all credit card & student loan debt, pay off my car note, visit 3 countries, raise my net worth by 100K, and give away a substantial amount of money.

I know now that money in itself holds no value. If, however, you are still bound to its perceived value, there’s no reason why you should not thrive financially. The Richest Man in Babylon will help with that foundation.

The Story Telling Books

Stories allow us to take a journey with the author and learn from what is unsaid as much as from what is said.

1. The Alchemist

The Alchemist has sold over 65 million copies and has been translated into a record 80 languages. That’s a lot of books and for good reason.

This book right here!

The Alchemist is probably my favorite book I’ve read so far. I read it at least once a year.

It’s the story of a boy in pursuit of his dreams, but it’s both deeper and simpler than that.

No matter who you are, you will see yourself as one of the characters in this book. It will help you to confront some things you’ve buried deep inside yourself.

I can’t praise this book enough. There are so many life lessons told in story form.

Forget what I said earlier, read this book because I recommended it.

2. Way of the Peaceful Warrior

Way of the Peaceful Warrior is another one of those storied books that changes lives. It’s debated upon if the entire story is true, but either way, it’s an awesome read.

It’s not a how-to book. It tells the story of the author while in college and how his life was changed dramatically after meeting a guru of sorts.

I don’t want to give anything away, but reading this will result in you holding yourself to a higher standard of living.

3. Born To Run

I’m not entirely sure what led me to Born To Run, but this is another book I read at least once per year.

This book is a true story. It follows groups of elite runners that can run 50+ miles in one go like it’s nothing.

But this book is more than just that. Born To Run is a story within a story that leads to another exciting story followed by one of the greatest events in sports history.

I let go of so many beliefs centered around the human “body” after reading Born To Run.

If you’ve ever done any kind of recreational running or just wanted to, definitely check out this book.

The Real Deal Truth-Telling Books

The following books aren’t of this world. They are from the real world. It is why its writings ring so true to us. You may not know what I mean by the real world, but after reading any of the following, you’ll have a better understanding.

1. Jesus: My Autobiography

I already know what you’re thinking. What!?!? Jesus: My Autobiography? How Sway?

https://jclay.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/how-sway.mp4

I thought the same thing. I came across this book from a spiritual ASMR YouTube channel, Pipilika. In her video, she read an excerpt from this book.

What I heard from that excerpt was the truth. There was no denying it. I even tried to. But how can anyone deny the truth? If they could, it wouldn’t be the truth now, would it?

So naturally, I bought the book.

After reading it I knew. I fully accepted the truth, at least my perception of it at the time. Jesus: My Autobiography helped fill the gaps to both biblical and spiritual questions I could never get answered. It opened a door to me hearing God’s voice, an ability that we all possess.

I’ll admit, not everyone is ready for this book. There is a lot of fear in the minds of people about God, the bible, churches, and spirituality. This in itself should offer up a clue. Fear and God cannot co-exist.

Fear is rooted in death. God is life. But like a child playing make-believe, sometimes we’re not ready to give up our illusions. So if you feel scared or uneasy at the idea of reading a book such as this, then you should not.

But it will always be here when you are ready.

2. A Course In Miracles

A Course In Miracles is one of the most powerful books I’ve ever read.

This book and the one I previously mentioned, Jesus: My Autobiography, are both channeled writings that claim to have channeled Jesus. The books are from different authors and different publishing companies.

The interesting thing is that in the book Jesus: My Autobiography, a channeled Jesus recommends his course titled A Course In Miracles. This is how I found out about it.

A Course In Miracles is an extremely slow read for most people. Ok, it was a slow read for me. Every line is like hearing the hottest line from a rap song.

This book is so real that there are many teachers that break down these principles even further. I am now one of them that has chosen music as the form to accomplish this.

If 2020 is the first time you’ve become interested in my music, it’s because of this book. I won’t act like I’m special and know something that you don’t. The opposite is true.

We are all special and I want you to remember the truth. This is why when you hear a song like Let Go you know without a doubt that true words are being spoken. The truth is nothing new. We’ve simply hidden the truth away in favor of illusions.

So if you’re up to it, check out A Course In Miracles. This book is guaranteed to heal you.

Honorable Mentions

These are a few other books worth mentioning that I found helpful that could heal your mind as well.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind – If money is on your mind, this will help you gain the right mindset to acquiring it.

It’s just as good as the first book.
The Power of Now – Another one of those truth books. The author reached enlightenment through a deep depression. He shares his story, but more importantly a true path to happiness and enlightenment. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be depressed to reclaim your happiness.

This article was written by JClay, the spiritual rapper and healer. Visit JClay for more wisdom, music, and insights.

Words can seem powerful. The words you choose reflect your financial status, your level of education, the culture you identify with, and even your well-being.

Every word you utter creates a ripple in time where the echo is felt by all.

Words alone aren’t as powerful as the energy you put behind them, but as creation goes …

And since you think in words, you can see how words shape your destiny.

The Effects of Speaking

The words you share with others are the beliefs that you would have strengthened within yourself.

So to share words of kindness with another is to receive it back and strengthen your belief in kindness.

This is easy to accept when it comes to kindness and what is considered good. However, when it concerns things you no longer want, you think the opposite is true.

You believe that by sharing guilt you can rid yourself of it. Yet the more guilt you try to give, the more you seem to have.

Remember that giving and receiving are one and the same. Both the giver and receiver experience the same emotions whether it’s a gift or a harsh criticism.

So instead of using words to attack or curse, use words that bless and heal.

Besides, our culture already uses many phrases in this way. “Good morning!” “Happy birthday!” “Peace!” Etc.

Attack words / phrases to start avoiding immediately

I created a list of common phrases we say to one another that reinforces a belief in attack, pain, and even death.

Read through the list below. Take note of what you commonly say so that you can rephrase it in a way that benefits you.

Killing two birds with one stone.
We’ve slashed the prices in half.
I’m hammered or wasted.
Whip you into shape boy.
I killed this performance.
I smashed on this food.
Start it off with a bang.
I murdered this beat.
Shoot me a message.
Dude, you’re ripped.
Talking your ear off.
I wrecked this song.
Knock it off my list.
Work is killing me.
Stumble upon it.
Let’s bang it out.
I crushed it bro.
Fighting a cold.
Breaking news.
Tackle it now.
Beat cancer.
Take a shot.
Nailed it.
Hit me up.
Tag me.

Photo by Josue & Kerry of Friday Feels Production

Give Your Words More Power

I know little phrases like the above seem irrelevant, but it all adds up.

Every phrase you speak affects you whether you believe it true or not. If you knowingly speak words that are untrue (lies), you are lessening the power of your word in your mind.

But the more you follow through with what you speak and speak only that which you want to represent you, the stronger your word becomes.

It can become so powerful, that you can manifest an entire universe by a simple phrase.

So let there be light within your words.

You share what we want to keep alive. If you don’t like pain or having enemies, don’t speak in terms of attack.

Change your word, change your world.

What are some attack words or phrases that you catch yourself saying?
