Do you know how many thoughts go through your head per day?

100? 500? 1,000?

Results from a 2020 study suggested that on average, 6,000 thoughts go through your head in a single day!^[1]

Since our core thoughts don’t change much day-to-day, most are likely the same ideas from the day before.

And if the majority of these thoughts are perceived as negative, finding peace of mind would prove difficult.

A study found that mental imagery directly impacts your visual perception.^[2]

It found that even a single instance of an image can tilt how you see the world, dramatically if the conditions are right.

This means that what you consider reality is simply a matter of the thoughts you repeatedly think.

And since the mind controls the body, we begin to see how illness is allowed to manifest and grow within that body.

It’s the placebo effect but in reverse.

This is why many make a big deal about saying affirmations, taking time to visualize, and even sit quietly to meditate.

Meditation allows you to silence all thoughts, especially those you did not create.

Visualization allows you to see the world as you would have it be. As they say, seeing is believing.

Affirmations allow you to affirm with confidence your state of being, which is a result of your thoughts. Hence the saying, think before you speak.

Music is a wonderful tool to accomplish all three.

One study showed that the patients who listened to music had less anxiety and stress hormones in the body than people who took drugs.^[3]

When listening to music, your mind goes to another place (meditation).

You can feel and imagine what the song invokes (visualization).

And what do you do while listening? You sing or chant along (affirmations) with full confidence even if the song has nothing to do with your life.

The big question then is, what happens when the songs you choose unknowingly reinforce the thoughts of distrust, loneliness, and even depression that led you to seek distraction in music in the first place?

Another loop.

You need music to calm down because you feel anxious. Yet you feel anxious because you’ve added more thoughts of fear rather than thoughts of joy to your mind.

These thoughts play in your head on repeat all day long to the tune of your favorite song created by artists that share this same distorted way of thinking.

So how do you get out of this loop?

The same way you got in.

By adding more thoughts, but this time thoughts of truth. And by letting go of the non-true thoughts you’ve clung to for so long.

But this could take years and a level of focus that a mind in this state isn’t capable of reaching alone.

This is where I come in.

I speak to the source of your conflicting thoughts using your logic patterns so that you can clearly see the truth from the illusion.

I do this using music, imagery, and nature’s gift … repetition.

By listening to even one of my songs twice a day, you’ll have enough thoughts of truth going through your mind in a week than you’ve had all year long.

Spiritual rap is a sub-genre of hip-hop that focuses on assisting beings to heal their limited thoughts and beliefs. It seeks to teach beings new ways of seeing the world.

Spiritual rappers traditionally focus on bringing people together through awareness of the higher consciousness that connects us all. Inspired by earlier spiritual gurus like Jesus and Buddha, JClay is the first predominantly spiritual hip-hop artist.

Spiritual Rap vs Christian Rap

Although Christian rap is based on spiritual beliefs as outlined by Jesus’ teaching in the bible, it’s limited to only that. Spiritual rap believes in removing all limits, whereas Christian rap enforces the perceived limits that are outlined in the bible.

For example, the idea of sin, hell, death, and damnation is a belief that a lot of Christian rappers share. Alternatively, Spiritual rappers believe that these are illusions and that the only truth is God/Love/Oneness/All-There-Is/Life. These ideas contradict those of sin, hell, death, and damnation.

History of Spiritual Rap

Hip-hop is known for giving the raw truth of the rap artists’ perceived realities. As such, elements of spirituality have existed throughout the entirety of hip-hop itself.

Many notable rappers have touched upon the subject of spirituality, including Rakim, DMX, Lecrae, and Big Sean. Yet these and other rappers are known for having unity be their main subject matter, as evidenced in their repeated mantras of having haters/enemies.

As of now, there aren’t many predominantly known spiritual rap artists. The list is small but is growing every day as artists become aware of their higher/inner selves.

The more we do it, the more habitual and seemingly permanent it becomes. It then becomes harder to separate ourselves from what we’ve created for ourselves. So we become drawn to conflict and it to us.

And because we are so filled with passion speaking lively of these “troubles” to others, we subconsciously began to seek out this conflict just to give us more things to share. This is because passionately sharing with others makes us feel alive.

The irony is that conflict is death and sharing is life. But what happens when we share conflict? We either make death more alive or we live more death.

So we create pain in an attempt to receive this love. Since the belief in pain has become part of who we think we are, we feel unsettled when things go well for an extended time period. We then create pain to bring us back to this image we’ve created of ourselves. When you remove the cause, you remove its effects. What purpose/cause have you given pain? Let go.

Some may see a glass as half-full , while others see it as half-empty. The glass itself simply is. ⁣

You’ve never fallen away with those cells or else you would not be here. By focusing mostly on the physical you are giving cause to something that isn’t real.

It’s similar to scratching out an error on a printout. That error will still be there when you Print again. Only by changing the document from its source, can it yield the outcome you desire.

Let Go lyrics: “Making these judgments ’bout life, who’s your source?”

Question. Well, a few. Whoever told you that you weren’t perfect? Why did you believe them? Did they get their information from a “perfect” source? If so, do we have that same access?

Similarly, why do we believe we’re qualified to judge another for their actions and abilities? Does judging make us any happier? Or does it make us sadder that we now have to live in a world made up of that which we judged negatively?

Some may think I’m implying you should know your history. I’m asking the opposite. Who are you without being clouded by your experiences, beliefs, and thoughts? Who are you without what you’ve defined as cool & popular, right or wrong, good or bad? Who are you really?
